I think I will switch to Amarnath away..... His WI, Pakistan records is bonkers and pretty Great in Australia as well. It's close between this 2.

England Home XI

Sutcliffe
Hutton
Root
May
Compton
Stokes*
Ames+
Laker
Bedser
Trueman
Anderson

England Away XI

Hobbs
Sutcliffe
Hammond
Barrington
Gower
Greig*
Knott+
Gough
Underwood
Tyson
Barnes

Went a lil more crazy with selections here on the away team. But they’re all still reasonable. Home team shouldn’t bring any surprises really, aside from Barnes, and maybe Hobbs.

Away team was tougher. Sutcliffe and Hutton could flip, Gower and Root as well. The bowling was tricky but I think I nailed it.

rip Botham but Stokes is 40/30 at home and Greig is 47/28 away.

For Kohli or Dravid?
Ofcourse Kohli. Currently it's 41. I will be among the first to say his away record is significantly better than his average suggests, but Amarnath arguably is the Greatest Ever tourist in 2 countries. Dravid, despite being a mixed bag in Australia and SL and poor in SA actually averages more away and had been responsible for some of India's greatest away wins.

So Kohli possibly missing out on both home and away Xis for India. Some decline this has turned out to be

Would still have him at home since don't like Azhar, button balance of Home/Away it's still him comfortably (Hazare has the best case). But yeah, a fall it has been. Would be undoubtedly in both just 4 years ago.

Sutcliffe is in both teams. Have Boycs in one. Also would have Willis/Snow/Larwood away for Gough (Tyson was also largely one series).

As much as I love Boycott, no. He doesn’t come close to the top 3. Snow yeah he should come in for Gough. Missed him.

Also lol at mentioning Tyson as having “one good series” (he was also excellent in NZ and SA) and bringing up Larwood’s name.

NZ was pure minnows and it was 2 matches against SA (pretty weak batting albeit deep, Goddard was the best batsman). The Aussie series is doing the hard work and Larwood's one was just better (and iconic). And if you are going to use a player both home and away, opener to boot, atleast let it be Jack Hobbs not Sutcliffe!!!

Too much stats. I see Sutcliffe staring at you after seeing the team. There is no way I see England playing without Barnes or Hobbs. Those 2 play everywhere everytime. First 2 names picked in the team everytime.
