I'm glad to see someone aware of Lara's exploits vs pace in WI 1st class cricket. That innings was mental and against a decent 1st class attack.

Not to downplay that innings or anything - I know nothing about it - is it the best example for against pace? Looks like the match was pretty spin friendly, no?

I already conceded that Lara prior to 94 did not have issues with quality high pace.

Lara is talented batsman and one of the best ever to pick up a bat but it’s true as he pointed out he hasn’t scored tons against genuine quick ATGs.

Sachin is arguably the best ever batsman since Don but it is also true he never reached the peak of Smith/Viv or had a monster series like Lara.

Back to the topic, it's fair to say Ponting, especially late Ponting, could be wobbly against good medium pace. But I think Lara was more vulnerable to being bounced out and targeted at his body. So I go for Ponting overall.
