What does Smith have to do?
He had a better peak.
He played majority of matches against better teams.
He was/is great against everyone and in in every place.
He has almost zero weakness and had perfect record.
be better in his decline, Sobers even at the end was treating the likes of Willis, Lillee, the indian spin quaret and underwood as gully bowlers. obviously longetivity, Sobers played for 20 years, he has the same thing as Sachin

Bro his average fell from 60 to 55.8 in like 18 months lol, that's rough, if he plays the Ashes it might be 52-53 when he retires.

For a BBB candidate, this is a marked decline. He needs to really come back strong, to continue being considered in the very top batting tier.

Since Ashes 2019, he is averaging 42.61 from 46 tests.

Avging
34 v ENG from 10 tests
29 v NZ from 5 tests
29 in IND from 4 tests
41 v PAK from 8 tests

He is beating up only two nations.
The bottom two - WI and SL. Thats a sign.

I don't think he will go down that much this year because he has a relatively easier year with SL and WI imo. He averages 125 vs Windies overall.

Sri Lanka will give him proper turners like they do to everyone so that should logically be hard, his average in under 50 against Sri Lanka and under 50 in Sri Lanka. West Indies is interesting though, scoring against them will be tough on current Australia pitches but if Australia makes a flat road like they did at Perth in 2022 for Smith to get his 200* then he can still score against Windies, but considering they did it before they might do it again.

Smith saved his 2022 with a 200* against weak Windies on a road. His avg otherwise is 10 points less for 2022.

Australia is playing WI away this team.
2022/23 and 2023/24 were both at home.
Windies pitches are usually flat. Whatever small loss he has in SL can be more than made up in WI. Though he could lose 1-2 points in the 6 tests vs Eng & SA. So imo he'll still be 54+ by year end.
