Then open with Dravid and have Younis/Kohli in the middle. Can have Mankad for Shakib as well. Just don't particularly think Anwar has enough of a case here.

Yeah Anwar in SENA is 1,205 runs @ 43 while Sehwag in SENA is 1,871 runs @ 33.4.
and Yeah iirc Anwar slaughtered Murali, or atleast did very well against him in 2000

Dravid as opener isn't bad frankly. I am fine with Sehwag though if this is an overall SC Xi.
Frankly I may even consider Mushtaq M over Shakib or Mankad for a no.7 since I just want an extra proper bat and 5th bowling spinner.

Makes the most sense.
You have genuine batting until no.8, Murali with Shakib as high quality spin backup, three pacers.
Though frankly part of me wants to put Imran at 7 and have Murali and Kumble instead.

If the spectators get tired of watching batters defend ball after ball, they should stop watching tests and switch to T20's imo.

Why Shakib outside SC?
His stats are better than others but he's mainly played against some very weak WI and Zim sides with some decent performances NZ. He has barely played any test in ENG, AUS and SA. Wouldn't take him over someone like Kapil/Jadeja or a proper batsman if you want one

Kohli>>Laxmann. And Pant is just wasting a spot. Sanga gives you both better keeping and batting, while leaving a spot for for an extra player.
