Akram played in a lot more countries but did not achieve the same success that Lillee did.

Dennis Lillee excellent in the 3 places he played but barely played outside of Aus, Eng & NZ.

But you always tell me that Imran due to playing and succeeding in Pakistan was a master of flat wickets. Isn't that supposed to be his MO?

Why was India such a challenge then?
Lol the Indian curators were literally putting sawdust to dry the pitches in that series. They were scared because Imran had blown them away the last two series.

I will remember this next time you defend Lillee in Pakistan.

66 wickets in 13 tests@24 in Aus isn't below par.

And six wickets a test @45 SR in WI is ATG. But we aren't going to disagree with your rigid view of stats.
A test average of 28 in Australia is below par.

A average of 25 is a good performance. ATG is what Ambrose did in Australia.

It doesn't exclude Imran as elite, no.
Funny, becuse if those were his overall stats he wouldn't even be in this conversation.

He's not in that top or second tier. Very much with Donald, Lillee, Holding etc, and the first two very much have an argument to be ahead of him.

Donald by stats and Lillee by peer rating.

I'm not sure why you want to discuss raw stats except in the case of Imran. To me it's a low grade dull argument. If you don't want to look at particular context, then that means you already made up your mind and then build arguments later.

1. Ambrose is better

2. Ambrose is unproven in few places

Can both be true?
Yes.

As it is here, he's unproven in India.

But for Subz and crew though, think for a moment of Botham and other bowlers outside of their peak or post injury. How many were able to maintain their average, far less one as ridiculous as Ambrose's. It's basically proven to be impossible for anyone other than him.

That in itself is special as hell
