For me in the last 80 years :
Sachin is number one. Hutton is around 5-7.

My only argument against the legendary Len Hutton is he did not face bowlers of the same calibre as other greats like Richards, Lara, Sachin & Sunny.
Well I'd argue he faced better ones than Smith, but regardless, the greatest attack he could face was the absurdly strong Australia one, Miller/Lindwall/Johnson in 40s and Miller/Lindwall/Johnston/Johnston in 50s, I'd argue latter is one of the greatest attacks of all time due to the sheer variety and quality and Hutton averaged 88 against them in a very bowler friendly series and then scored against them in England too.

slaughtered WI spinners, easily cracked O Reilly at his early 20s, also cracked the Windies pacers that Hammond never could crack, it's true someone like Gavaskar faced more great bowlers but I'd argue Hutton got less stat padding opportunities than Sachin/Sunny/Lara which balances it out for me.

full respect for me, zero statpadding and faced greats all over the world, only maybe not facing his own attack leaves a sour taste in the mouth but not his fault.
