On that note, remind me what Kyle Meyers did to get banished?

Oh **** me dead, another one gone. My prediction about them scoring more than they did first innings in tatters

Update: Not out on DRS #Rally
Mayers declined a retainer, made himself unavailable for the tour of Australia and the Regional FC Tournament to play franchise cricket.

So far what I’ve seen is that you have to be slower through the air to be a threat here. I was surprised that Warrican nailed that aspect before Motie who I believed was the better spinner. It’s a good point that eventually a touring team is going to have a spinner that can adapt.

I enjoy watching Mayers but I don’t think he was the guy who would have eased the batting woes.
Yeah he realistically shouldn't be playing unless he's gonna be bowling a bit. Might be marginally better than Greaves but not really a game changer either way.

I don’t think there’s a simple fix to shape up the West Indies batting in Tests. There are some guys in there who clearly have the talent like Athanaze or da Silva etc. but there always seems like a case where 30 year olds are picked in the midst of their career peak and then they quickly return to their mean. It is the same as what South Africa were doing a few seasons ago.

It’s different from the days of Darren Powell etc because they have the attack to take 20 wickets in different conditions. Jayden Seales is a seriously good bowler. I don’t even think they need to be an excellent batting unit, just a passable one. I wouldn’t read too much into this Test though, Pakistan didn’t exactly cover themselves in glory with their batting as well. I actually heard one of the commentators saying they should just stake the batting up to 9 and play Ali and Sajid. If that’s how they are viewing things then this team isn’t going to grow.

They all are rather mediocre truth be told ..

Alick and Da Silva aren't super young either , both 26 .
Alick averages 27 after 12 test matches. Da Silva averages just 24 after 33 tests .

Athanaze has a habit of producing these pretty little 50's and then goes missing for 4 or 5 innings, same with Hodge , looks like Carty will be similar in test cricket..

They only seem to perform when someone calls them out on their mediocre performances like what Rodney Hogg did in Australia and that's just not good enough.

I thought pitches versus England were not this bad especially the second test where it was mainly some superb bowling from Sajid and Nauman that won the test however this pitch was entering lottery territory not far behind those pitches where micheal Clarke took 6-9 . Eventually a tourist spinner will nail Pakistan till then I see this continue and I find these pitches as bad those Pindi roads . If slogging is the best mode to get runs on a pitch then it’s a substandard pitch

Yeah I feel you. I just singled those two out because they look like they should average more. We know that doesn’t actually count for anything when it comes to scoring runs. I’m interested to see what Sammy does to the batting. Does he have the pull to get some of the LO hitters to give Tests a look? The landscape has really changed, 15 years ago even Andre Russel played a Test.

This test pretty much went exactly as we expected once we saw how it behaved on day one.

There is no way our batters are going to survive for any length of time on that. Mind you, Pakistan were almost as bad, one first innings partnership won them the game.

The only anomaly for me was Jayden Seales, who bowled unbelievably well on a wicket like that. They guy is awesome, up there with the best seamers around at the moment.
