Would you play Keith Miller in your Australia ATG XI?

Um Waqar even with the minnow bashing (only played one series against Zimbabwe in his peak) was still winning games against WI and Aus and taking well upwards of 5WPM at an insane SR. Still one of the top 5 bowling peaks ever with Imran at no.1.

Peak Wasim 90 to 97 took 240 wickets in 48 tests@20.

I would definitely take that over Marshall, Ambrose and Holding.
Waqar's peak was Great, but not in Top 5 for me. Imran, Marshall, Bumrah, Murali, Hadlee, Steyn and Ambrose are definitely better for me

Steyn didn't have a peak per se but decade long stretches of worldclass performance. Hadlee too but he clearly peaked in between in the mid-80s.

Ambrose was awesome in his peak but he also strangely had dry spells which is why he ended up with less than 5WPM. But I will admit its close between him and Waqar.

I agree with Imran, Marshall and Murali being ahead. Bumrah based on last year too has a good case.

Good article comparing their relative peaks of 27 tests.

This is what I go with as well. I pick the player based on their overall career, but consider that the peak version of the player is gonna play for the team.
Like what's the alternative?

You get Bradman from '30, Richards from '76, Marshall from '84 etc. etc. Most may disagree on the years, but that's what you go with.

Waqar's peak is a bit overrated. Was involved in a lot of minnow bashing (his average in peak drops to 25 excluding minnows iirc). And Wasim achieved sub 20 average in a calendar year twice, one of them includes him basically playing NZ and SL (1994). Imran had a great peak.
So, not really imo; the WI attack is definitely better.

And even if PAK had the best bowling lineup ever, I'd have no problem with that.
It still averages back out and the WI and Australia still more or less come out on top. South Africa really close. Depends on the England attack, they're in the mix as well.

Yeah I change my mind. I was thinking the same after making the post (and I never said I'm not dumb)

Guess you found out 🔫

So what point was any of these players their career average? Many guys were pretty consistent, but even Sachin was better than his average, so was Viv and arguably Sobers. That's the entire middle order.

So which Wasim do we get? The one that never existed?

Come on mate, I mostly side with you over subs but this is pretty low-rent posting. You can't say you don't actually take points off cheating like you did the other day and then also make posts like that.
I would have no issues if he said he just rates them lower cas of cheating.

But he insists they were cheats but then comes up with convoluted arguments to justify his rankings when it's clear why he is actually ranking them that way. Bad faith posting.
