Root and Rohit the two most egregious recent examples of captains ruining generational fast bowlers? Hoping Bumrah fares better than Archer.
160 still probably wasn't enough but man it would've been so much more fun to end the series with him giving it one last go.Wish he was fit for Sydney

They're not hiding anyway, they're flaunting tiny dicks under massive potbellies. They're functioning dicks though that've let them impregnate women and father children. I trust them to know when time's up.No
If we had drawn this series, we would have delayed the removal of certain players from the Team . Now these players can’t hide behind Bumrah.

@silentstrikerYeah apparently he was heard on the stump mic in Melbourne on that fateful afternoon saying "bas abhi, nahi lag raha zor" which I'm told the tl;dr is basically "I'm done". But Rohit kept going back to him anyway.
I do remember his body language in that last session of the day really deteriorated, that was the first time all series he looked properly worn down mentally as well as physically
That's exactly what I was thinking. Why the hell were India trying to get them out especially on day 5??And Bumrah missed out on Syndey's "spciest pitch". Rohit should have never returned from his paternity leave.
If you have to rely on your best bowler even for 10th wicket, may as well as forfeit the match. In any case, longer Boland and Lyon batted, better were the chances for India to draw.
Yeah most similar to Hadlee's efforts in the 80's in that regard. His bowling on day 4 at the MCG had shades of Hadlee's effort in the 87/88 boxing day test when the great man bowled 75 out of 238 overs, including 31 in a day.The lack of consistent support, and thinness of fourth/fifth options, really stands out to me (as well as having a crap captain) as elevating this performance. If we look at Johnson 13/14 for example, yes he was more destructive (on much less helpful surfaces), but he was assisted massively by having a full complement of supporting bowlers who also bowled very well (Harris in particular was exceptional), and a captain who knew full well what he had on his hands and how to use him and so only deployed him very judiciously in short bursts to maximise his output. Meanwhile you have Bumrah on the stump mic pleading with Rohit to bowl ****ing someone else because he is all tapped out but nope gotta keep milking that cow again for the ninth spell of the day.
They really thought they had a good chance of chasing it though and winning the game, which in hindsight is easy to say was optimistic but they'd just come off their tail batting for a day making like 200 runs themselvesThat's exactly what I was thinking. Why the hell were India trying to get them out especially on day 5??
Should have allowed them to bat for 8-10 overs. Would have brought the total overs down to about 84-86 which could have made the draw easier.
This is why I think Gambhir has no cricketing sense. He has already openly stated that he doesn't believe in data or analytics. Kept playing with only 3 proper bowlers the entire series. Absolutely clueless. Persisted with two spin allrounders on green seamers. Gambhir is as dumb as they get. Hope he is sacked from tests at least.
Just a back spasm. Haven't determined how serious. For context the recommended rehab time for a back spasm is:Have they confirmed the nature of his injury yet?
I couldn't believe that "Grade 3 back spasm" has a 3 month recovery time so I went to check - now I can't believe that that's called merely a "spasm" or "strain", the description sounds deeply unpleasant.Just a back spasm. Haven't determined how serious. For context the recommended rehab time for a back spasm is:
Grade 1: 2-4 weeks
Grade 2: 6-8 weeks
Grade 3: 3 months
"Spasm" is just something Prasidh said about Bumrah's injury IIRC. Could be something serious like his stress fracture again but I hope not.Just a back spasm. Haven't determined how serious. For context the recommended rehab time for a back spasm is:
