The bowler friendly era started towards the end of Smith's peak. 2017 India tour, 2019 Ashes were very bowler friendly but apart from that, it was a pretty road-y era before 2017 or so.
I mean, looking at Smith’s stats at home in his peak period he was averaging 96.44. Other Aussie bats (1-6) in Australia were averaging 48.96 and overseas bats (1-6) were averaging 36.03. Insane however flat it may have been.
