He doesn't follow cricket as closely anymore but yeah both had long retired when he became a more casual fan so he wouldn't have changed his mind on it.

That's over 100 runs per test over five years in some of the more bowler friendly conditions in recent times. His hundred at the gabba probably one of the most memorable innings ever.

Tbf pace playing pandemic only starts in ~2016 and the Aussie home decks going to **** + new Kookaburra doesn't kick off until 20/21. He had a few years of early "wobble ball" but the conditions aren't as consistently bowling friendly as it could look.

Haha I totally disagree with this tbh - he's underperformed his potential if anything, with how he was rated coming in he really should have gotten >20 Test hundreds over 100 Tests

To his credit he adapted to a new opener role well to force himself back in the team. Many players underperform but few fight back to become a fixed member of a side.
