There were spikes before and after that looked the same....and had like no correlation with the footage. Either way, not something to cry about but its weird. Is there a consistent guideline for interpreting this for the third umpires, or is it just YOLO?
The answer with Joel Wilson is probably yes it's just YOLO.

FWIW I do think there's a good chance he hit it - certainly there was a bit of a spike on Snicko, and I think I could see a deviation. But neither of them seem all that conclusive.
I'm honestly not sure there is a deviation, nor can I discern meaningful change in the rotation of the ball. Never mind the process, I just don't think that's the right decision on merit.

Which is exactly why it wasn't out, given the on field decision was not out.

Cricket is getting into rugby league levels of beautiful product, awful officiating

Umpire didn’t give it out, no benefit of the doubt to batsman, and Snicko is now producing horrible wavy lines of what looks like feedback where it used to be a flat line and then a clear spike when the ball contacted something. It’s all very odd.

The officiating is honestly completely fine except when there's one bloke involved. Genuinely, I think the vast majority of umpiring controversies/dubious calls in the last few years have always involved the same guy.

I wonder if Joel sided with Australia because of all the controversies about him. Two not out decisions overturned in Melbourne, Jaiswal surviving a very lucky umpire's call, the Smith catch that wasn't....

Dharmasena has had his moments, but honestly even he is quite some distance less all over the shop than Wilson is

This is honestly perfect for Aus if India just eats up the rest of today scoring no runs and then the light fades. Declare or slog.
