Second overall maybe but not in Tests.
Even an avg Indian knows where he stands in Test Cricket.

Players do care about their standing in the history of cricket. If Kohli didn't care, he would never have prioritised Test cricket in the first place. He is on record saying that players are judged by what they accomplish in test cricket. So obviously he cares. It's just that he isn't as good as before or as focused as before and hence the diminished results.

For me, the best available option is to take away the all format captaincy from one MI guy and hand it over to 3 different MI guys.
