**Official** 4th Test at Melbourne, 26-30 Dec 2024

NKR's father apparently didn't have money to feed the family coz he had sacrificed his job for NKR's cricket and then MSK Prasad took him to an academy in Andhra where they also provide lodging, food, clothing and cricket gear etc for free for talented players. Just amazing what people come through to achieve things in Indian cricket.

I spoke about it after the WC final. The pressure and journey Indian cricketers go through is something no one else can truly understand. Even other desi and SC folks.
His dad looks a lot like Mukesh Kumar

Just saw the Gavaskar clip on Pant’s wicket and geez that is the most furious I’ve seen him in the commentary box.

It's obscene we still have a slight chance of going into the final Test of this tour squared at 1-1. All come to nought over the next two days but there are good signs from the batting pov going forward. Seam stocks still a worry tho.

So secret is to put a good bat at #8 to score runs when ball is old and soft and bowlers are tired 😉

...meanwhile Australia have waste of space Marsh at #6
Real missed opportunity to exploit an Indian weakness, the depth in seam bowing and over-reliance on Bumrah. Don't even need a fast scorer at 6, a crease occupier would put the pressure on.

India had a massive day. We were 5 down yesterday and still survived the entire day today. Really didn't think that was possible.
Aus one strike bowler isn't fit - Starc and Cummins their leader is tired. don't know why Starc was passed as Match fit

Mitch Marsh isn't a test standard all rounder, yet somehow he's gotten nearly 50 tests (!!). They're effectively a 10 man side plus a fielder.

Lyon looks like his career is finished, this is the 4th test In a row he's ineffective, his post injury statistics are no good.

This explains the current state of Aus bowling.

Tbf, it was really four down (one being Akash) with almost all your best batsmen still to come/at the crease. It wasn't like it was amazing bowling or fiendish movement that got those three wickets late yesterday.

A great Test to follow sporadically through the night and catch up on at breakfast.

India have spent much of three Tests in a row stumbling around like a punch-drunk boxer on the brink. And yet here they are, still standing and with the score at 1-1. If they're not careful, Australia could be on the receiving end of one of the great muggings here, and they have to not just close out this game but win in Sydney too.

Or the other side is so scared of losing, it gambled that its one strike bowler will get the wickets, and it stacked it side with batting all-rounders.

Yep. True. Fair to say Washi and Reddy are proper top 6 test standard bats though. Once Rohit and Kohli and Jadeja are gone they will be part of the top 6 for India. Axar Patel another batting all rounder will be there to replace Jadeja. He's 36

The Xi in the future as follows

Kl Rahul
Jaiswal
Gill
Sundar
Reddy
Pant
Axar Patel
Bumrah
Siraj
Mukesh Kumar/ any other quick eg Prasidh
Akash deep

Pressure talks imo. Given the match situation, a lot of teams in the same situation would crumble under pressure.

This is a pretty inexperienced lower middle order that has been carrying India's batting for most of the series. In that context, it was a huge day for India to reduce the deficit to a little over 100.

Going off all the hype on here people think Reddy, Jadeja and Sundar can all bat in the top 6. Doesn't say much about future Indian middle order bats 😉

What are we going with:
3. Sundar
4. Reddy
5. Pant
6. Jadeja
