Some statisticians count 1 and 2 as the same position as both start the innings and it is possible to carry one's bat from number 2. In this case, Nasim-ul-Ghani and Stokes can be added.

Tests, positions 1-10: Sammy Jones, Engineer, Shastri. Ravi Shastri batted 10 in his first two Tests.

Others to bat in ten positions (with missing position in brackets): Blackham (4), Trumble (5), Armstrong (10), Ian Johnson (4), Shujauddin (5).

Rabada has just had his worst ever bowling performance in a home test. 2/103

The only other time he took 2 wickets was against England 4 years ago (2/97, England only batted a single innings)

Got 0 against NZ once but he didn’t bowl (wet match) so that doesn’t count.

Pathetic from him. Could cost them a test.

Also not from this test but in the previous test vs Bangladesh his 0/17 brought an end to his streak of 38 consecutive innings with a wicket - 7th all time.

So Bennett got a ton and a 5’fer against Afghanistan. He didn’t however, win man of the match. This is the second time in test history this has occurred (when a man of the match has been awarded), and also the second time it has occurred to a Zimbabwean player. The other occasion was also won by a player who scored a big double century. Both Zimbabwe players took 5 wickets exactly, and both had not out centuries. Both matches were drawn, Zimbabwe won both tosses and elected to bat first, and both matches finished in Zimbabwe’s second innings. rip Paul Strang and Brian Bennett.

Also, with this effort there have now been 4 century + 5’fer games in tests this year, by 4 different players (Jadeja, Atkinson, Ashwin, Bennett). The previous record was 2 (1955, 1962, 1978, 2011, 2016).

Botham remains the only player to do this twice in a calendar year. Ashwin and Jadeja are the only teammates to do it in a single year. Three opposing pairs - Atkinson and Miller, Umrigar and Sobers, Ashwin and Chase - all achieved their feats in the same series as one another.
