I mean going back to the post I made that seemed to amuse Burgey, imagine actually arguing any of Langer, Hayden, Martyn, Hussey, Clarke or Symonds are better bats than Joe Root. I can’t fathom such stupidity
Joe Root isn’t fit to carry those blokes’ jock straps. Come on ffs. I’m not even a Hayden fan but he craps all over Root as a test player. You’re embarrassing yourself here

only if Clarke had a proper back
He didn’t though. Be like me saying I’d be good enough to play 4th XI cricket if my back wasn’t ****ed

(I wouldn’t be anyway but that’s not the point)

Tbf, even I rate him a tier above those guys

A very early Test schedule lock-in from CA for the only test series which really matters, so may as well get this thread going now.

All the better to have Enlgand and Wales' false hope drag out for longer.

Main changes are Perth hosting the opener and the Gabba having the second test as a day-nighter, with Adelaide a traditional day time test in the lead up to Xmas. Naturally, Melbourne and Sydney round out the usual Australia white-wash.

Test Schedule

First TestPerth Stadium November 21-25, 2025
Second TestThe Gabba (D/N)December 4-8, 2025
Third TestAdelaide OvalDecember 17-21, 2025
Fourth TestMCGDecember 26-30, 2025
Fifth Test SCGJanuary 4-8, 2026

5-0 to England. We are coming up with our best cricket & Aussies are getting older and not much younger talent coming through & lack of ideas which will be an issue in this series

as long as there is delusion, people will keep looking forward to an Ashes down under.

He struggled in India and Australia will be far tougher than India for him. He might not even average over 30. Runs in Pakistan don’t mean you’re good enough to score in Australia.
Do you pray every morning he fails in Australia lol? also, I already addressed your India argument, give it up.

Australia fielding a full XI of 30+'s in their next test got me thinking about who we'll see in the next couple of Ashes series. My guess is that their side in 2025-26 won't be so very different from the current one. But 2027 may well be a very different story.

Possibly no Khawaja and Starc in 20025-26? Maybe Labuschagne too? Ditto Boland?

As for 2027, which Australians do we think will still be around by then?

Looks like it'll be no one in their 20's. One teenager and 10 oldies.

Lyon, Hazlewood, Smith are unlikely to play in 2027.

Ah, thanks for the correction. I'd managed to completely miss the Konstas selection.

As for 2027, presumably the guys you listed are as well as Khawaja, Starc, Labuschagne and Boland from my post.
Beyond those guys, Head should still be around and maybe captaining the side. Cummins will be 34, so maybe not.
Marsh, Abbott and Carey will all be 35, so they could go either way.
But it does look as if lots of that side will be playing their first series in England. Possibly the most since 1972 or 1989.

If they stay fit then I think they'll be fine for bowlers. O'Neill and Morris could go far. Murphy is an obvious Lyon replacement. Got to find four or five batters though.

Lyon was talking about playing in the Ashes in 2027, maybe wishful thinking.

Think Khawaja, Smith, Starc and Hazlewood will be gone by 2027. Maybe even after 2025/26 series.

Age doesn't really appear to be an issue with Australia. Could still be talking about Nic Maddinson as opening batting option, Cam Green being a top 6 batter and whether they could squeeze in a 37 year old Neser into the pace attack while rotating Jhye and Morris.
