Whose the debut test cricketer of 2024 ?
Was waiting for you to say WoakesYeah lots of promising starts from these guys but in terms of "Who has achieved the most, so far." it's gotta beJadejaGus.
I won't lie, that was my first thought...Was waiting for you to say Woakes
AddedNitish Reddy deserves to be listed. He is brilliant to watch.
Also O'Rourke is averaging about 25, but it should be about 19 (terrible luck including so many dropped catches).
AddedBeen a great start as well for Bethball, he looks very talented. He'll still be kicking himself the way he threw it away against Southee.
Well that’s just not true.Atkinson - Takes easy wickets
O'Rourke - Taking the scraps of Southee's hard work
Smith - Batted against minnows
Stubbs - Per above
Joseph - One good match
Carse - Genius who keeps providing
you're replying seriously to GnskeWell that’s just not true.
He did pretty well on debut and against South Africa too.
Perhaps that was the one good match being referred to?Well that’s just not true.

Admittedly it was the first time I’d seen him play and I saw one or two comments saying he was down on pace, but Atkinson bowling wise didn’t look like anything to write home about. Early 80mph with no great shape, ehhhhh…Gus Atkinson by a mile
50 wickets, 10fer on debut, hat trick and a test hundred. Doesn't get much better than that.
I fully respect the other candidates who have had great years too but this is a ridiculous start to a career not seen since the likes of Botham.
Yeah from the first morning of the first test I was like - this is Atkinson? Just sort of a big nothing. I didn't really see anything much different in his bowling throughout the series except that, like anyone who lobs enough balls down against this NZ team on these pitches, he inevitably took wickets.Admittedly it was the first time I’d seen him play and I saw one or two comments saying he was down on pace, but Atkinson bowling wise didn’t look like anything to write home about. O’Rourke on the other hand, 6’5 bowling 95mph rockets. Even if he is a genuine number 11 I’m taking that 10 times out of 10 over someone like Atkinson.
