It's the whole ethos and mindset. And chosen personnel and their skills and attitude. And strategy etc etc. Where is the grit to knuckle down, get into line, weather the storm and just stay in? Yeah nope....
Maybe although NZ got rolled for 125 in Wellington and we're not pursuing Bazball :-) Sometimes bowlers just have good days and catches go to hand. Another day Brook's inside edge misses the stumps. It would be good to see some stats as to how long England are batting generally since McCullum/Stokes took over compared to the 2-3 years beforehand.

On the commentary, was Harmison just lamenting about how Panesar was run out, leaving him stranded on 49* by AB de Villiers? I only caught the end of the anecdote, but he was run out by Paul Harris.

Aaron Redmond dropped after scoring an 80 odd in his previous test against Australia at Adelaide.
He wasn't a great test opener to be honest, he was more club standard but we were struggling for test openers back then and we've had worse.

Jeet Raval played way more test matches as an opener than he deserved, I can't remember him playing a decent knock of 50 let alone an 80 odd.

Hit a great grafting hundred(? - might've been 90 now that I think about it) v SA to set up what should've been a big win had it not been for rain.

I didn't see that one, I remember Watling hitting a great hundred against SA in SA when most of our other batsmen there were dropping like flies.

This knock probably means Conway is on test hiatus best case?
Yeah, Conway will still be in the white ball sides but I don't expect him to be in the XI when NZ next play a test, and given he's not contracted I wouldn't be hugely surprised if he doesn't play another test (though with KW's injury record over the past few years I wouldn't rule it out either).
