**Official** England in New Zealand 28 Nov-18 Dec 2024 - 3 Tests

If I see any more of these "Southee is a lazy bum and always has been" posts I'm gonna start rooting for him again. Ffs, I know we're all frustrated and he should've been dropped after last year's Australia series, but that doesn't change the fact that he's been one of our greatest ever.

England could have done with getting Kane to the crease while the conditions have been bowler friendly. Just haven't been consistent enough. Relentlessness isn't the strength of any of the bowlers on show.
The England bowlers have bowled better than this scoreline suggests, both Latham and Young have had some luck but they have made the most of it.

There's been plenty of movement off the pitch and through the air and NZ made it through the session unscathed. Potts bowled well after his first spell but poor bowling overall. Latham has been somewhat lucky but Young did pretty well to smother the bounce.

First wicketless session in the entire series. Potts bowled well second spell but in general England been too inconsistent and while the batsmen have had a little bit of luck they haven't been challenged enough times in good areas, Young has 10 boundaries in his 42 which tells a bit of a story

Yeah, way too many freebies from England. Also surprised we haven't seen Stokes try to aim a few more inswingers at Young's front pad.

Jeez if Young can push on and make a hundred here we might never see Conway play another test.

Conway's batting average now 36. Didn't realise it had slipped so low - checked statsguru and after 2022-23 season he had 1403 runs @ 50.15. Since then 11 tests, 433 runs @ 19.68.

Add that to his turning down NZ contract (and possible new coach?) and I think you are correct, Conway test career over, suspect Hay then Mariu will move into test squad as reserve batters next season / following season.

I suggested that Conway should be dropped for Young after the first test and it is looking justified now.

Conway wasn't even dropped for this test though so he may still have been playing here and we would probably be at least one wicket down by now..

Young has played a few streaky shots and had some luck but he has also played some good shots too and looks in much better form than Conway is in.
