Really?Interesting didn't expect Trueman to be leading.

Yup thought Lillee has a better reputation here.Really?
Nah Lillee has always been lambasted here for his lack of Asian conditions.Yup thought Lillee has a better reputation here.
He's losing to Hoggard.Yup thought Lillee has a better reputation here.
Both high WPM bowlers, with a high percentage of home tests and questions about their records. How is it possible these guys are tied?
Lillee has a six vote lead a day after the necro. Interesting. How is it possible these guys are tied?
Looks more like 4 to me.Lillee has a six vote lead a day after the necro. Interesting.
Trueman was a htb, at least Lillee performed better away from home, even if it was primarily in said same England.Lillee easily. The only hole in Lillee’s record is not performing in SC, and that’s not that big an issue perhaps as many have pointed that pacers from that era did well in India atleast. Lillee was a beast as a match winner: incredible WPM despite not being a lone horse in the vein of Hadlee or Murali. Lillee even had an ATG series like the ATG WI of 1980s.
He was either dropped because they didn't think he would have been effective or personality issues.don't necessarily subscribe to the belief of Trueman being a HTB or not good enough on flatter wickets but it doesn't matter much against Lillee really
He was mostly beefing with the board because he was, to put it lightly, a bit of a ****, regardless did well in his second trips to West Indies and Australia. Think his away record is judged pretty harshly for having those 2 tests as an ATG bat on absolute flat tracks in Windies, he proved himself right in the next series. He was either dropped because they didn't think he would have been effective or personality issues.
But he was dropped more than a bowler of his standing should have been.
Hutton had him dropped for playing reasons, I believe as wellHe was mostly beefing with the board because he was, to put it lightly, a bit of a ****, regardless did well in his second trips to West Indies and Australia.
IIRC he was being a pain in the ass off field going against Hutton's policies like not befriending Windies players and did something that led to one of his checks being blocked, he also struggled in the first two games though iirc they were proper flatties and he was facing the three Ws as a 22 year old, so I don't take it too seriously and he did perform in the third game but yeah, I kind of think Hutton hindered Trueman's career stemming from a decision which was very likely made off of personal opinions due to off field behaviour.Hutton had him dropped for playing reasons, I believe as well
