Where will Jacob Bethell end up being ranked?

Leach and Panesar both might be better bowlers but not sure either were better at taking wickets. Certainly not in England.
I’m surprised Panesar is even a debatable point. He did have a great tour of India in 2012 of course but otherwise was pretty meh after a good start. Leach I can see both sides.

Certainly not in England.
Are we even talking about the same players?

In England
Moeen 39 matches 113 @ 34.91
Panesar 22 matches 81 @ 28.76

How is Moeen better at getting wickets in England again?

Leach sure I get but he’s much better away than either of them so far.

That is actually a way better home record for Panesar than I expected
Because of Swann emerging, he was dropped early into his decline whereas we kept going back to Moeen.

Certainly feel Moeen had more memorable/matchwinning spells and contributions

I remember his first summer but not much after that (Cardiff aside.) Those few years were probably when I watched the least amount of cricket.

There was a good game at OT where he and Jimmy brought us back into it when all looked lost against New Zealand. I don’t remember him doing much else. 07/08 weren’t memorable years for England though, to your point.

iirc Panesar had some decent spells against Pakistan in 2006. But, as you say, other than that and the NZ match you referred to, not a lot.
When was Swann's first home series, 2009? I doubt whether Panesar played more than half a dozen home tests after then.

Yep, Windies at home in 09. Panesar played just the one home game after that - Cardiff that summer. What a way to go out though.

I was going to suggest not more than a couple of home games but thought I must have missed a few, so I took the cowardly way out and suggested half a dozen. Oh well. Yeah memorable end to his home career, although my impression is that he bowled like a drain.

He & Swann both did. As did the seamers. But it didn't matter in the end
