I dont mind that thought process but they should give the kid some notice, have him bat a few times at the top of the order in domestics, have him open for the A side etc. before throwing him to the deep end like this.

I know he did open in the A-team for the second match once it became clear he was the guy they wanted.

The bottom line is that the actual opening options are very uninspiring.
