We need @Pap Finn Keighl ‘s opinion on this
Here it is.

If we take last 50 years, there are 8 greater bowlers than Donald.( Akram, Hadlee, Marshall, Murali, Steyn, Lillee, Mcgrath and Warne ) Even though, Donald could have been rated among this elite 8 if he was allowed a full career. Unfortunately, he lost few years in the beginning.

Kapil Dev is probably the greatest allrounder of last 50 years.( Mainly due to absence of Procter) he was a consistent matchwinner with both bat and ball. Only other cricketer in the same category during this period is Botham. Botham was magnificent in the first half of the career, but when you asses the over all career, Kapil Dev was more consistent. Overall Kapil was better bowler, and almost equal as batsmen. Only thing that favors Botham is number of 100s, other than that their output with bat is more or less the same. Add to that Kapil played for an inferior team with no support and in unfavorable conditions. And he was the most aggressive batsman of his generation. Did extremely well against best team in the world also.
Richard Hadlee and Imran not out Khan were better cricketers, but their batting was significantly inferior to Kapil and Botham.

Overall Kapil Dev is the only AR with consistent quality in last 50 years.
While there are 8 greater bowlers than Donald.. So Kapil > Donald.
Both are underrated.

Funny, People here think Imran was consistent and Kapil was Hit or Miss.

Imran was not a quality bowler after 1988.
Imran took more than 5 innings on average to score a 40 until then. Kapil scored a 40 in every 3.5 innings. Even better than Botham in that regard.

And this is why rating players based on AR rankings is perilous, and crazy.

Imran averages 22 with the ball, Kapil 29, no contest

Allan Donald was better in my opinion.

Kapil Dev is probably the greatest allrounder of last 50 years.
Imran. Botham. Kallis.

I would even pick the legendary Hadlee ahead of him. Even if his batting was not as good as Kapil, he more than made up with his bowling.

If we take the last 100 years Don Bradman is probably the best batsman and Marshall is probably the best bowler. Therefore Bradman ~ Marshall. Hard to pick.
