England in New Zealand 28 Nov-18 Dec 2024 - 3 Tests

Why even call it a prime minister’s XI? Does the prime minister even select it? Maybe it was something done in the past in the days of Keith Holyoake and the name just stuck.

It's called the PM XI because the PM traditionally used to welcome touring parties by showing up in the first game of the tour. Up until 1957 the PM would actually bowl the first ball of the game (it wouldn't count ofc) to signify the start of the series - kinda like the ceremonial first pitch in baseball.

Challenging pitch was it?
If england bat like this in the tests its gonna be a kiwi walkover.
Cox atrocious form with the bat continues but apart from Crawley and Pope none of them managed much: 170-2 to 249ao.

Jordan Cox had a X-ray on his hand.

Jimmy has ended up as sub fielder in the warm up game!

The stupidity of not taking a second keeper means talk of Pepper, Robinson or Rew being called up to replace him.

Would be some laugh picking Pepper seeing as he's actually Essex keeper as opposed to Cox.

Can't someone just have a word with Keir and give Baz British citizenship? Player coach.

Otherwise, Pope debuted as a keeper in NZ. He's an option.

maybe one of the three spinners can keep?

not wishing ill health on any player but Cox getting injured might not be the worst thing for Englands chances. he looks absolutely rank at international level to date. would be great if ollie robinson got his long overdue call up.

Credible performance from this mix of youngsters and fringe provincial players. Although a nothing warm up exercise they are still up against a test line up.
