**Official** 1st Test @ Perth, 22nd-26th November

Qlder

International Debutant
Travis Head playing his 50th Test today. Would be appropriate if he gave his South Australian team mate McSweeney his 1st Test cap

India just lost to NZ at home. Got absolutely belted. So many over the hill players. I think this will be the last series for several seniors. I am hoping this series serves as a good transition point for the team and I hope that a few young guys really make a name for themselves over the next five Tests. Hoping that Bumrah really has some good spells that keeps India in the game.

Australia on betting sites seem to be a 3:1 favorite, and that's probably a little generous to India given their recent form, but India do always seem to lift their game up a notch when they play in Australia, so it should be fun watching. Plan to watch every ball - it's going to be fun!!!

Look I don’t mind any combination that most sensible people have suggested. But Reddy should not play. He’s done absolutely **** all in the format, including looking terrible in the A series by getting bounced out 3 times.

Morkel must’ve seen him hit the unlucky length at practice a few times and jizzed or something. Hopefully they leave him out.

Whatever it takes!!!
I agree I wont play NKR. But in my scenario that is to enable both Harshit and Prasidh to play alongside Bumrah and Akashdeep with both Sundar and Jaddu in the top 7 as backup for the seamers.

I actually dont mind the punt on an allrounder if they really think there is something about him. And, IF they play Ashwin as the lead spinner to bat at 8, that is also a bit understandable. But it looks like they are playing NKR at 8 as some kind of insurance and that is just sucky thinking.

Just to be clear, I wont play NKR and Ash as the 7 and 8, but if that is the direction they are going, at least its more understandable as it means they are picking NKR ahead of Jaddu and Sundar coz of him being a seam bowling allrounder.

Nitish Kumar Reddy and Harshit Rana handed their Test caps (cricinfo)

Reddy averages 21 with bat and 27 with ball in FC. Is he playing instead of Jadeja?

If they think an over spin bowler like Sundar will be more successful here than Jaddu or Ash, that is fair enough too. Ideally, I would play both Sundar and Jaddu and not play DDP as I dont think he is likely to do too well here but again, I can understand them wanting a specialist bat at 3 as well.

I hope Bumrah and Akashdeep/Prasidh play and not Siraj. He has been very disappointing recently. He may well do well here but I think you gotta have players face consequences for their poor form. He does not have the bank balance of performances that others have had.

India winning the toss... batting first. Washy as the lone spinner. Hope it is because they think his type of spin will be more effective here as he is the one most similar to Lyon who has had major success here.

But I suspect they picked him because they are not confident of NKR batting 7. :(
