2024–25 NZ domestic season

Williamson's first first class game for ND since 2019. Probably the last he will play with Southee and Wagner too. Nice article about it and having Watling as his coach:
“It is special,” Williamson said. “This is where Tim and I have grown up, coming through the ranks here. And you always feel an ND man... you always follow it pretty closely. So it is nice when you have the opportunity to play.”

International Vice-Captain
Not sure what the go is with Nick Greenwood. He was down to bat 4, but now coming in below van Beek. Wellington have a long tail, so it's odd to pick a batsman to do this. Seems a straight swap of Younghusband and Greenwood in the batting order... Unless the scorecard's wrong.
Probably mistake online by the scorers
.
I did notice the order of the 12 at bottom of the scorecard didn't match what the online scoring started with.

Or absent injured.

Another thing I have got in a huff about this morning, probably has a sensible explanation.

Howsie

International Captain
He’s apparently a good bat too. Not in the class of Foulkes but good enough to be a top class 8 in test cricket. Yeah test cricket was already brought up in regards to him..

Jamieson, Henry, Foulkes, Shipley, Sheat, Paul, Rowe, Rae and Davey. Need to seriously spread some of that bowling talent out a little bit 🤣

New Canterbury opener Scott Janett's boundaries feature another debutant, Tyler Annand. Annoying that rain is delaying the Akl v ND game. It would be good to see how Dixit goes. His one boundary looks like a good pull shot off Wagner.

Didn't realise Popli and Williamson were teammates at Tauranga Boys'.
That brought about a special moment for Williamson, with Bharat Popli’s entrance to the crease, the pair batting together for the first time in the Plunket Shield, some years on from having been team-mates in the same year at Tauranga Boys’ College and through the Bay of Plenty rep ranks.
