How fast was Roberts? I saw that his fastest delivery has been clocked at 159, but surely he was sub 150 consistently

Fastest I think was 157.4 in the 1976 study. The 159 is a typing error from Espn afaik. He was recorded 150.67 in that study.

Here it is. The second delivery fastest of Thommo was 159.49 with fastest being 160.45 that wasn’t of Roberts. Roberts fastest in that study was 150.67.

Roberts. Better rep, impact of being the godfather of WI pace and comparable record overtakes the longevity for Walsh.

It says a lot that in the presence of Garner, Croft and Holding, he was considered the leader of the attack.

Walsh only got that distinction towards the end of the career when Ambrose declined.
