Based on 4 of the first 5 boundaries I just watched, he looks like a tailender with that footwork.
Hah, no kidding. Not even sure how someone can get this far without a coach pointing out that they need to move their feet towards the pitch of the ball.

Dhillips bowling the straightest straight-breaks today really makes one appreciate Lennox' Santner-esque flight, bounce, and turn yesterday. After a long nightwatchman innings, Lennox succumbed to him via exhaustion.

In Otago A v NZ Development, not only did Seb Lauderdale-Smith score 100 before lunch but the typically more sedate J Cumming is on 96. Not the best bowling performance tstl.

Lol, Finn Allen. There's Bazball, and then there's just being a ****ing lunatic. Though tbf, I guess he did wipeout a sizeable chunk of Wellington's first innings lead.

Cleaver sees Chu's effort and raises it with his first hundred in 3 years.

lol @ Canterbury declaring 9 down to have a quick crack at ND, and then only being allowed to bowl spin due to bad light.
lmao now CD do the exact same thing with the exact same result.

Except they're up against Otago, so they've got them 1/2 on to the second nightwatchman. Natch.

The declare 9 down part can be explained by how the first innings bonus points system works.
For Canterbury, yes, but not for CD who declared after 120 overs. (And by the same reasoning declaring 8 down is better.) It's completely broken how batting for a draw in a hopeless situation is barely rewarded – the anti-draw points system being the stronger motivation for such early declarations.

The declare 9 down part can be explained by how the first innings bonus points system works.
Not for CD. Bonus points are taken at end of innings or at 110 overs, and at 110 overs CD were 8-312. And 9th wicket gets the 4th bowling point, so perhaps some sense declaring 8 down to avoid giving away 4th bowling point, but not 9 down.
