*Official* England in the West Indies 2024

Maybe I'm being negative, but I'm really going off white ball cricket recently. Yes Butler was awesome, but it was like batting on two completely different pitches once the dew came in. Same thing happened in our favour in the ODI series and and in Sri Lanka in all but one match.

I can say with absolute clarity that we would be 2-0 up if we won the toss. It takes all the joy out of the contest if the team batting first has no chance at all.

I'm not sure what can be done about it, but it sucks.

Dont play at night under lights?

England do seem to specialise in losing both set batters within balls of each other. didnt matter this time, but
its something best avoided.

TV money makes that impossible. I honestly don't have a solution unfortunately. This is not just a one-off, it's a trend, though it could also be we've recently played a lot at venues where it's particularly pronounced in SL, Antigua and Barbados.

Doesn't take away from the excellent batting by Jos and that our bowling was awful, again, apart from Akheil. The side batting second should always win in those conditions, but the margin is worrying for us.

PS come back Alzarri, all is forgiven. Walk off as much as you want. Every other seamer is rubbish, we need you.
