Yes that counts and 2004.
They did, unambiguously, in 2004. They didn't in 2001 but it required once in a generation performances to just get them over the line.So by your logic an ATG Aus side couldn’t win in India against a less successful version of the Kohli team
If Kuldeep is included he was outbowled by SIX other spinnersbtw is this one of the worst series of all time by a bowler of Ashwin’s calibre?
3 tests 9 wickets @ 41.22
Not only that but outbowled by no less than 4 other spinners, 2 of whom played 2 and 1 tests respectively. Also outbowled by Kuldeep in the first test. So arguably outbowled by 5 other spinners.
Yeah those are very very poor numbers for the conditions on offer.btw is this one of the worst series of all time by a bowler of Ashwin’s calibre?

And then there’s Bumrah too having such a pathetic series.
Jimmy’s 2023 Ashes I guessbtw is this one of the worst series of all time by a bowler of Ashwin’s calibre?

In helpful conditions, you'd have to say it's up there. Our batting order had a multitude of LHers - Conway, Latham, Rachin, Santner, Patel for the first two Tests - yet he managed 6 wickets in four innings in those Tests.btw is this one of the worst series of all time by a bowler of Ashwin’s calibre?

Age is the only factor working against him to be fair. If he was an year or two younger you'd think he's earned the "right" to a crap series. But yeah he'll be 39+ come the next home game and he's not going to be cutting any less a sorry figure in the field than he already is.It might be end of the road for him & might not get another home series.
Yeah, for the first time that I've seen (in home tests at least), Ashwin really looked like a proper tailender, never had too many concerns that he would last long. At 38 I guess that's to be expected to a certain extent. In helpful conditions, you'd have to say it's up there. And scored runs at an average of 8.
The Black Caps 1999-2003 or so with peak Cairns and then emergence of Bond were pretty good although that 2001 series they were bailed out by rain in the 2nd test. First test was also rain affected. And then you've got the folks who just have Australia on a pedestal. I've met a few of them, who don't rate the current generation at all because of their failures against Australia. They legit believe Fleming &co are better than this lot - now, depriving that Australian team even a single win in a home series is pretty badass, but still.
Hopefully, this win silenced them a little (ironically, Pat Cummins-style).
