*Official* New Zealand tour of India 2024

NZ has done Australia a favor with a whitewash of India. 4-0/4-1/5-0 coming up.
How can you say that with confidence though ?

This is the same Australian side that lost a test match to the West Indies at the Gabba, also look at recent test results , Pakistan were dead and buried getting whitewashed to Bangladesh, humiliated at Multan by England , then just smacked England in the remaining games, NZ were fearing the worst after getting whitewashed by Sri Lanka then they whitewash India, Bangladesh must have fancied their chances vs South Africa at home and then got absolutely hammered.

Test Cricket right now has never been this unpredictable, and the WTC final where several teams can still qualify has only upped the stakes.

Right now Test cricket is the most unpredictable form to call

I can say with some confidence because India is carrying a couple of passengers in the batting order coupled with no Shami and Siraj being out of form. And we saw how bad they looked in Bengaluru against seam and bounce. It doesn't bode well at all for Australian tracks. They'd need a mini miracle.

And if they asked for these pitches, why did they play 2 fast bowlers instead of Axar Patel?
to hedge incase there's reverse or significant variable bounce for seamers. but yeah I would have played Axar in place of Siraj in the last test at least.

Can you imagine if they did that ?

Ashwin, Jadeja , Sundar and Patel ..

Greatest spin all rounder quartet ever

Lengthens that batting too and Axar provides cover for Jadeja. And if there are two RHB, both would have taken the ball away, no escape for batters.

Makes you wonder how thick headed indian cricketers / team management are if they didn't realise that Axar is invaluable on these tracks. He is as good a batter on a rank turner as any. Look at his runs in the last 2 years on predominantly difficult spinning pitches.

34 vs Ban on rank 4th inns pitch. Ind chased 145/7
84 vs Aus 1st Test
74 vs Aus 2nd Test rank turner. Ind was 139/7.
12* & 15* Aus 3rd Test, on 100 all out minefield
79 vs Aus 4th Test

Guy is a beast on these kind of **** pitches. It shows that Gambhir is a loud mouth with no brains. And his squad of assistants are just as clueless in India - Morkel, Ryan Ten doeschate and Nayar. Meanwhile Rohit being lazy/thick is obvious as we have seen with his consistently reckless approach. What a combination of ****s India's got. Before there was Rahul Dravid to steer the ship and he played Axar.

Axar is also averaging like 5 million with the ball recently, no? He's not a good enough bowler on form to cover jadeja or the bowlers, and he's not replacing kohli after his 2023 season or sarfaraz mid series after the 150 he made (even if kohli should be dropped).

You think he would be a worse bowler than a Siraj on a Mumbai spin minefield? Aussies had done a full study on him because of his earlier exploits vs Eng 2021.

Coming back to this series, Sundar was highly effective against LHB because he was bowling from wide of the crease creating an angle and then straightening from there. Axar likewise bowls from wide of the crease to RBH and creates the same angle. I am confident he would've had a great time with the ball in Mumbai. The wicket taking balls are typically the ones that turn little & straighten or just go straight on and thats what he specialises in, unlike Jadeja and Ashwin. He's the Indian Santner. Maybe NZ would have played him better but he would have been a great addition and added variety and a different challenge, bringing bowled and LBW into play a lot more.

Axar played on raging turners last time AUS toured india and couldn't buy a wicket. He didn't get picked because he's in horrible form with the red ball. It's not complicated.

Since when has Jadeja not done this?

The funny thing that happened with the Australia and England tours was that he no longer seemed in my mind's eye to be someone who'd learnt considerable skills and ability and went back to being the dirty Darren Lehmann-style darts thrower that I first saw in 2015.
