also he got away with it but how ****ing awful was that shot? really not doing the "block or slog merchants" hypothesis any damage there
Yeah it was really, really dumb cricket. And as much as I hate the cliche, a very 'modern' bit of batting - new bowler on, it's only half an hour into the day but I'm going to smash it first ball because #intent. And then he got nowhere near the pitch but still tried to biff it

Pant looks like he is in the mood to play one of his Gilchrist like freak knocks, I would love watching it if it was against any other team, not so much now

It's all high risk batting, which tbh I don't think India need to do here - our bowlers are simply not accurate enough that you need to take those risks, you will get enough scoring opportunities anyway.
A lot of it is just really loose bowling though, in particular overpitching a lot (how many full tosses and half volleys already?)

With the lead disappearing quickly, Latham should probably look at short spells here. O’Rourke may be worth a go to see if the batsmen try to take him on.

Worried that Ish will bowl a couple of meat pies every over in between any good ones.

Edit: Next ball is so short it nearly bounces twice before reaching the batsman
