Unsurprisingly they mentioned needing 70 points for the top 4 as a reason for the sacking. So while the Glazers have given some control to Ratcliff it’s the same metric. Top 4 or else.

ETH really seemed to want to play ball control without a proper DCM and it constantly didn’t work against any team with a pulse. Team looked better at the end of last year when he played Mainoo and Amarabat together. He just didn’t really want to do that.

5 managers in 10 years. Maybe a consistent transfer approach and a DOF help that…

It doesn't reflect well on Ineos, they briefed journos that he was getting fired before the FA Cup final and then changed their mind on one result while spending 200 million on players the next permanent manager may not want.

Looking at the betting odds regarding replacement, Ruud is obviously fav as he gets the first go, but Thomas Frank is an interesting one, although not sure Man U are a step up from Brentford in 2024.

Go to City at the end of the season, win everything or take a massive gamble at a basketcase now?

If the reports are to believed then Amorim is going to chase the latter. Its a very big call but from a Utd POV it would be an exciting choice.

I'm not sure City would be on the table for Amorim.

He's quite clearly keen to get out of Portugal and has been for a little while. He spoke to West Ham last summer.

Madrid fans are the funniest.
I'm glad the La Liga/Messi stranglehold has been broken. I thought it should have happened with Van Dijk in 2019 and again with Haaland in 2023.

No complaints from me that Rodri won it, absolutely deserved and about time a defensive player won it. We're about to see just how important he is to the City machine.

Not just fans, the club is acting like Vini passed away or something. One of the most hilarious meltdowns I've ever seen.

2019 was one of Messi's best all round seasons, would've looked silly to give it to anyone else.

Disagree.

He missed El Clasico, Suarez scored a hat-trick which won Barca the first game. Suarez single-handedly carried them to the Copa del Rey final, which they lost. He didn't do much of note v Inter, but was very good v United. They didn't get further than the SFs of the UCL after what happened at Anfield (4-0). Argentina were 3rd in the Copa America.

You're comparing him winning La Liga (admittedly scoring a ton of goals in doing so - but what did that mean for Haaland?) against the following from VVD:
- 97pt season in 18/19, just one loss.
- UCL win in 2019
- Undefeated in the 19/20 at time of Balon D'Or (8/8 wins)
- 1 loss in 46 consecutive PL games at time of Balon D'Or
- Record 25pt gap in the table at any one time in 19/20. (Was about 7pt gap in league at time of Balon D'Or).
- Captain of the Dutch team that made Nations League final

They finished within 7pts in the polling of each other, the closest in voting history since 1996.

Don't think its absurd at all to say it should have been Virgil's.

I was going to mention what a bunch of man-babies Real Madrid had been so I'm glad it was brought up. Certainly not wrong that Rodri has won IMO given his Euros contribution.

Can I also add that for the vast majority of non trophy hunting football fans, no one really cares about this.

Its telling how much weighting they put on international tournaments.

Foden was POTY in the prem and finished up 11th. Yamal did nothing really in La Liga or UCL and finished 8th.

Palmer 25th and Saka 21st is pretty funny too, especially considering Olmo was 13th.

System is broken but still think the right player won it

Sounds like Ruben Amorim to United.

Been touted for a while with big moves. Big job on his shoulders as whoever goes in there they never seem to at least build a good base for the next guy even if things didn't go perfectly.
