LaughableWell seeing as we just gave Baz the one day job you need to give your head a wobble
It’s one of the issues with “Bazball”. Overly simplistic approach to batting (and bowling) that seems to take little account of/downplay normal changing test match conditions (eg. Condition of ball/pitch/ tiredness of bowlers etc). It’s no coincidence it’s been at its most effective on truer pitches and where there has often been consistency throughout innings/matches.Get the batsman out here too. We fine Somerset for turners and magically expect our cricketers to be able to play spin.
Im not really going to chastise them for their second innings performances in both tests, game was already lost.
They needed to apply themselves better in both first innings, they collapsed from a position of strength. That's the unacceptable part.
Zahid getting a gift from Smith his only impact in 2 testsHere is a cracking stat which is absolutely mind boggling.
Wasim Akram & Waqar Younis shared 10 wickets in an innings on two occasions in their entire career playing together.
Sajid Khan & Noman Ali have shared 10 wickets 3 times in their last 4 innings .
Yep and like India just he's gonna go well it was tough conditions what did you expect. We seem to just have no strategy at the sight of spin. All starts with Stokes really, doesn't seem to fancy it at all. That perspective ripples through this whole team.
No strategy, or extremely one dimensional strategy? The difference between eg. “Sweeping being the favoured scoring shot” and “sweeping being the only shot” (even when it becomes apparent that it is not the way to go on a particular pitch). We seem to just have no strategy at the sight of spin. Never failed against spin before Bazball though. No strategy, or extremely one dimensional strategy? The difference between eg. “Sweeping being the favoured scoring shot” and “sweeping being the only shot” (even when it becomes apparent that it is not the way to go on a particular pitch).
Finding a method that works in the conditions is part of what being a test batsman is (or should be) all about. And capitalising when conditions are in your favour what being a successful team is all about. And as you say - even more so in the SC.Yep and like India just he's gonna go well it was tough conditions what did you expect.
For me just like that series we had good positions with the bat when it wasn't unplayable in first innings and we wasted them.
If you don't score enough runs in the SC in your first batting innings 9.9/10 times you will lose.
Indeed. Although Bazball does seem to have encouraged a reversion to type in this area.Never failed against spin before Bazball though.
The first 15 minutes were quite good.Morning all, how's it going?
Does this mean we can blame the hundred?Stokes just blamed the summer ending late and guys playing an ODI series in September.
I dunno maybe players should stand up against the ECB bollocks scheduling then?
wasn't much of an issue for them when they played on the M1 in the first testStokes just blamed the summer ending late and guys playing an ODI series in September.
