Of all time?So which of the 3 teams are the 4th best of the ATG squads?
England, India or Pakistan? Think Bumrah brings India closer to or into the conversation.
SA won a series against Eng. WI had a pretty good fast bowling attack for the time and NZ had Jack Cowie. Ind had pretty good attack themself including ripping England’s top order apart very quickly before efforts from Ames and Jardine to save them. Botham averaged 21 against Indies. You just can’t discount what he did against other teams. Ames is no way a worse batsman than Botham.Against the one team that really mattered, during a friendly batting era. Ames’ big thing is his batting right?
During the 30’s
Ames vs Australia 675 @ 27
The average top 7 English bat (excluding Ames)
10189 @ 42.28
Who didn’t score 100 100’s in the interwar period tbf.SA won a series against Eng. WI had a pretty good fast bowling attack for the time and NZ had Jack Cowie. Ofc English bat would avg 42.28 during Ames time considering that was The Golden Generation of English batting. Gilchrist averaged like 27 against India too. Ames also scored over 100 100s at an average of 43.51.
Pakistan's pace attack is so very good, but the batting is by far the worst.Of all time?
England’s got the best batting.
Pakistan’s got the best pace attack.
India likely the best spin attack.
I feel like England’s bowling attack is definitely better than India’s. Even if you say excluded Barnes for whatever reason their pace attack are all superior to any non Bumrah Indian and at worst their best spinner is at the same level as India’s.
Don’t think there’s much between the 3 but I’ll give England the edge.
Why pray tell? This conversation really can only start with people who made debuts after 1947 when India and Pakistan were independent.
On thay basis England is def out so it’s India vs Pakistan which is debated as nauseam because of the better pace bowling in Pakistan and better batting and depth in India
Basically excluding Hutton, Compton etc.Why pray tell?
It's a hypothetical contest of all the AT teams, and you're setting a date that applies to just two? And you're not even saying played after but going full debuted after...
All just to be benefit your perspective?
Anyways.....
There's a clear top 3, and if there's a TRI Nation competition for the 3rd, really think England comes out on top. Only one of the 3 that that has elite batting and bowling talent.
HobbsRidiculous given an England side pre 1970 would probably wipe the floor with India. Fixed to suit an agenda.
Not about salty, but why even bring up restrictionsI love how salty some fans are for comparing two teams in modern times...... Probably don't be so dependent on players who played before the friggin moon landing!!!?
To compare teams in a specific timeline. Not about salty, but why even bring up restrictions
We frequently bring up various restrictions on comparing players. How many comparisons you have seen of modern openers? I can attest to have more than 5 atleast. Judging two teams in the proper modern eras is hardly some "heavy, nit picky" restriction. If one team is doing significantly worse, it's totally on them really. Not about salty, but why even bring up restrictions
Yes because India wasn’t an independent nation until 1947 thanks to you lotRidiculous given an England side pre 1970 would probably wipe the floor with India. Fixed to suit an agenda.
Which is a lot earlier than it was for a lot of Caribbean countries.Yes because India wasn’t an independent nation until 1947 thanks to you lot

Lets not.Which is a lot earlier than it was for a lot of Caribbean countries.
Plus you know, the slavery thing.
I'm just saying we can all have our grievances, no need to bring them into cricket.Lets not.
