*Official* New Zealand tour of India 2024

Whatever it takes!!!
Its the number of unforced errors in both innings that gets my goat.

46 ao had like 4 or 5 and this one here, I think Jaiswal, Gill and Ashwin probably got out to balls that usually do get players out on such tracks. The other 4 have been awful.

But on the discussion about Santner and why the tracks seem so different even within India, Pak, SL and BD, I think the SG ball is as big a factor as anything else. I wonder if Pak esp may benefit more by using the SG or at least even the Dukes instead of the machine stitched kookaburra which does nothing after a few overs.

Lol Smithy is laying into this batting performance. Rightly so though wish he’d control his glee a bit.

How important was that toss. Not expecting NZ do much better in their second innings so the lead is quite critical.

Australia pushed us almost to the limit in 2017 especially and 2023 too, maybe to a lesser extent.
Nah bro India were never 1-0 down with danger of losing the next test and also this being a 3 test duel it heightens the jeopardy of losing the series ..

This is the ultimate test of India's resolve not seen since Sir Cook's team conquered India

2017 vs Australia we went 1-0 down to Australia and were in dire straits in the second test too.

This is even worse though, no doubt.

India were evidently deeply humiliated by getting bowled out for 40 odd and getting defeated by NZ at home. The coach and the captain have read the players the riot act and told them to get out there and boss the NZ attack and restore injured pride. This has caused their batsmen to show the bowling zero respect, the mentality has been over-aggressive, and they’ve fallen to a series of ridiculous shots. This is all the result of hubris, no doubt about it.

Lol maybe give your team some credit? The reckless batting came after a long period of tight bowling where India were scoring at ~2 RPO. The others just didnt have the patience or temperament.

I think this is worse for sure coz we basically have almost everyone fit and available too.

I mean, game is hardly over yet and all that but we have had two diabolical first innings batting performances in a row and this is a pretty first choice XI except Shami and we hardly ever missed a seamer before in the 12 years of dominance at home.

Think this series goes the way of Pak-Windies '88 in the sense of the dominant team being pushed right up to the brink? No draw here obv, so down to these two to get us to within 50 of NZ and then make things happen. Looks tough though.

What makes this worse is that Indian wickets are the worst for 4th innings run chases , there has only been 1 300+ score successfully chased in India in the history of test cricket.
