*OFFICIAL* England in Pakistan 2024

Whatever it takes!!!
Have to say this win takes a lot of load off Shan as a captain too. I dunno if it ever felt like "his" team with Shaheen and Babar around but right now, its feeling a lot more of his team and he seems to be so much more proactive as well.

Of course, it could just be coz its finaly not a road they are playing on, anymore but it was interesting to see. If this unlocks Shan as a potential 2-3 year captain, that is huge for Pakistan.

Not sure if it belongs here, but Cox is likely to cover for Smith on the tour to New Zealand with the birth of Smith’s kid on the horizon. Suppose he’s due a go in the Test team having served as deputy for the Sri Lanka and now Pakistan series!

Not worth making another thread this earlier for that series. Perhaps the England selection thread, but as comments being made during this series sort of relevant

This made me laugh

A bit left of field to try and produce a turning wicket

To be fair, even if England could force a result on ****ing Jupiter, seeing too many pitches like we saw in the first Test (or the last time England came to Pindi!) are not good for the game, the reasons for such lifeless decks are largely climatic, so I don't mind them going to drastic measures trying to create a pitch with a bit of life

Got no issue with them trying to make a turning pitch. Just funny the method being implemented.

I'm surprised Pakistan even needs the heaters you find in a pub in the UK in December

Gotta hope england win the toss; i believe theyve won just 1 out of 8 since July.
Don't think England will win the toss. Seems that Stokes likes tails. Wonder if Pakistan will get a pitch they are hoping for and if they will change their team.

In effect that is 1.5 seamers and 3 spinners. That does seem like a big risk to be honest. That said, you should fancy a big contribution from Leach to be at least reasonably consistent.
They could have waited till the morning of the game to announce the team. I know it's been a recurring theme for us to name the team this early.

But it's a bit guesswork what they expect the pitch to be like. Pindi has been flatter than flat for the first innings.

Are the fans really going to make it a bunsen for the first few days, I'd be surprised. Then if we lose the toss and bowling first you'd be worried if it doesn't turn from the off.

Seems to me they've adapted the Pakistani way of thinking. This is our team, we WILL win the toss, and we'll have the perfect bowling line up as a result.
