I've come to the conclusion you don't need 5 regular bowling options for ATG XIs. Pak win imo.

Neutral location still Pakistan. India just don't have enough bowling fire power to make up the difference. Bumrah has closed the gap but he's just one player. India certainly have the better batting though.

I still think the batting gap is much bigger and would compensate for it. If the batting gaps and bowling gaps were approximately equal I would go with the bowling team. But here, the batting gap is too big for me. IND has 2 ATGs and 3 batsmen better than all Pak batsman, with the 4th one being approximately equal (slightly behind for me). Sehwag is also easily better than both the openers and Pant/Dhoni, (whoever you go with) is easily better than Rizwan too. Add to that IND have a much superior spin attack too. Wasim and Imran alone wouldn't be able to make up such a gap imo

I respectfully disagree and here's why. Outside of a rank turner , I don't see India's spinners doing much against the Pakistan batting. Therefore it'll be down to Dev, Bumrah and Shami. Bumrah is Bumrah he's great and all but he's no superman. And I shudder to think what Imran, Wasim and Shoaib would do to India's lineup on any wicket with anything in it. On a flat surface, India's bowling won't have enough fire power to take out Pakistans lineup and probably vice versa. But, Shoaib, Imran and Wasim and Bumrah have proven they can take the pitch out of the equation, so there's that.

The reality is the Pakistan XI looks great on paper but the Indian XI has much better results when the played (individually and collectively as a lot of them overlapped) than the Pakistan XI. India has been a more successful team since 1970 and it should stand to reason their AT XI is better. Other than not losing to the West Indies, Pakistan has very few test accomplishments of note in this time.

Pakistan might have more ATG pacers but the difference in batting quality is large as well, Sachin Dravid, Gavaskar are on another level compared to any other Pakistani batsman. Pakistan has one ATG batter, three ATVG batters.

India has Three ATG, one Potential ATG, two ATVgs, so the difference is good enough to compensate for bowling.

Its very close but India takes this.

Waqar as well. Absolute beast. No Indian fast bowler outside of Bumrah is at the level of Pakistan. Pakistan has probably the best bowling attack of any country if we talking about this type of fantasy matchup taking place at every player’s peak.

Depends how long a peak we’re talking about. And how important you consider a spinner to be.
