That's a very interesting take and totally changes many things here, as I rate Flower a clearly superior bat.

Yeah, just 40+, but was a class keeper and honestly, no other keeper averages such will explicitly batting at 3.
Here we go.

Sanga's wk batsman ship is only judged using stats when he kept. But same doesn't apply when he is judged as a pure bat. Then the whole career is taken in to account.

Alan Knott

Averaging 32 after 95 tests, these old timers are really something.

Why not have Wridhhiman Saha as 4th then, 40 tests 3 centuries at 30 and was as good a keeper as any, and that man was dropped for Pant.
Maybe Foakes can also come in with 2 hundreds in 25 tests.
If Saha can be included then PJ with average of 29 definitely could be. Way better keeper than Saha. Simply was best in the world during his era.

I for once don't like judging only by his runs he scored when keeping, as he clearly peaked later. But even then, he was scoring 40@ at 3, significantly better than any keeper bat Gilchrist, Flower and arguably Pant.

HARD DISAGREE. Saha also was easily the best keeper of his time, easily elite territory. Brilliant against spin and pace alike, top class positioning, extremely safe hands and top level athleticism. Not sure who was better, but no way he was way better.

Then which would you pick
If Sangakkara only played as a bat, he would average just to significantly above 60. That makes him easily the best batsman of current era. I'd rate only Bradman and Sobers over him. IF he played his whole career as a wicket keeper, he would have averaged close to 50. I'll put him as equal as Gilchrist as a Wk-bat. However we don't have full career for either. And different people can think about these numbers differently too. It makes comparison very difficult. As long as double standards are not applied, i am happy.

Pakistan’s best keeper
Okay, but I must say some of the catches were fire!! I won't have had any problems with Akmal had he not been so prone to errors. Flower, by most of what I read, doesn't really seem to be much error prone. Instead he looks to be pretty much comparable to Pant as a keeper. And must say in the stumping video, him standing up to stumps to a medium pacer oozes a certain degree of competency.

If England had Knott and Pant today they choose Pant over Knott.

frankly I think they chose their current guy over Knott.

Hell if they had Foakes rather than Smith they probably win
Genuine question, ofcourse Foakes is worse than Knott, but is he worse enough?? Have similar batting average (though Knott better) and Foakes was a top tier keep (though Knott better). Also longevity, so not saying it's in any way shape or form close between those two; but is Knott really THAT much better??

If England had boycott and Rohit today, they would choose Rohit.

I think they would also pick shakib over Hobbs.
