Bit of a random one I just noticed. I was 90% sure when I saw that country by country breakdown for Root on the numbers and statsguru backed me up but there was some manual counting involved so please keep me honest but…

When Root debuted the record number of Test centuries for England was 22 - Cook had, I believe, just equalled it

Root now has 21 just at home.

Not sure that really means anything in itself but it just kind of struck me as powerfull

I knew he equalled it in that series. Went to innings by innings on cricinfo and clearly miscounted the equalling to be the second ton of the series not the first.
