Even in UAE at the end they were losing series. SL 0-2 in 2017 and NZ 1-2 in 2018.

Misbah-Younis were sort of the last of the old batch. Guys who debuted when Wasim/Waqar etc were still playing. Post their retirement, they were losing in UAE too.

The problem is not with the pitches but the personnel. This team would lose in the UAE too. That 2015 era team would win/draw in Pakistan.

Yeah. Misbah/Younis retiring&Yasir+Azhar fading has triggered a big decline. I doubt they'd do much better in UAE now. The low bounce is good for their batsmen and can frustrate overseas players but spin plays a bigger role in UAE than Pakistan and touring teams left right and centre are turning up with a better bowling attack in all departments.

England is a first world country with infrastructure in place.

So their changes in 1999 (for tests) and 2015 (for lois) worked.

Pakistan just doesn't have that luxury. Their political instability and economic issues are the main reason for their decline. You can't fix the cricket without solving those.

But Pakistan have often produced so many off the cuff cricketing talents regardless of the situation in their country. What has happened to the exceptional backyard cricketer? The ones with either exceptional pace, 360 degree batting or mystery spin.

In the modern age of analytics and match ups if you aren't constantly upskilling, your every weakness will be found out and preyed upon. Back in the day when cricket was less professional and had to do with natural talent, Pak could get by.

But in this professional age of workout regimens, data etc etc only teams with the proepr infrastructure can succeed. It's no coincidence that the best three teams in all formats are the big 3.

Pak cricketers come in, have 2-3 good years - get injured and then come back a shadow of themselves.

India also had that issue back in the day with guys like Irfan, RP, Munaf etc. Thankfully the infrastructure has improved a lot so that guys like Bumrah, Kuldeep etc can come back from injuries/wilderness.

They have done it before and will do so again, Political instability has always been a problem for decades

interesting take but you might be right. it doesn't help that none of the bowlers are bowling much in domestic first class cricket either. look at Naseem's recent matches. No domestic bowling in sight. has he jus come back from injury or something?
