*OFFICIAL* England in Pakistan 2024

Molehill

Cricketer Of The Year
Brook or Crawley both better bets I think. They gave it to Pope because he was a bit of a prodigy and came onto the scene earlier than Brook. They've kind of backed themselves into a corner because they're really keen on taking pressure off him but if they take VC away - that's an admission his place isn't completely safe.
Brook did ok in the ODI’s and for his franchise. His place is also not in question, he’d make a more obvious backup skipper.

King Kane

International Debutant
It seemed almost inevitable that a run scoring machine like Root would score a ton on this pitch.

Retire at tea if he's still there then? It is very hot out there. Mid-30s.
... That's a very good point.

He's starting to play those loose shots & mentally he wants out.

Instead of losing his wicket,go off, rest & get back some fluids & come in again to cash in if the team is still 120 runs behind with a couple of wickets remaining.

Chin Music

State Vice-Captain
Karun Nair didn't exactly have a long test career.
Even Rob Key has a test match double ton. Of course there is going to be an anomaly here and there. I would tend to think it would be a very talented and complete player who is likely to do this.

Yep. Not sure we will do that though. And still another 20 minutes before tea.

I'm not so sure we will see a triple again tbh.

This modern crop doesn't really have it in them to grind out for that long.

We've only had Warner, Azhar Ali and Nair score one in the last 10 years.
Root just wouldn't physically be able to do it in these conditions. Cook could have batted on this for a year.

We will absolutely see more triple centuries though.

It's hard to see who's doing it though in the modern game that isn't going to retire in the next few years.

Jaiswal defs could do it in India but he likes to keep the scoreboard ticking at a rate that makes scoring a 300 very hard.

He could definitely score a Sehwag style one. Crawley almost did it as well.

Batsmen are still churning out 200+ scores though here and there.

If they can do that still then somebody down the track has to go on & bag it due to probability.

Brook needs to see as much of the strike out until tea.

Either smack a boundary or just block it.. No need for singles.

Preserve Root so he doesn't fall at the end.

You never know if he will capitalise or not but it's a shame for Stokes that he's missed a home series v SL and a test on a proper slab. Cheers Hundred.
