Crawley and Duckett at least do their first job of giving those below them a platform and not forcing Root in with single figures on the board, but definitely not enough centuries from everyone not named Joseph Edward Root

Yep massive reason why we lost in India as Crawley our best batsman didn't convert and Jaiswal did.

9 hundreds in 19 innings is ridiculous. If a player plays 30 innings to get the same runs just nowhere near as impressive.

Jaiswal was facing a significantly weaker attack so it was about bowling strength as well, but yeah it's a problem in general.

Yeah Root is a better player than Yousuf but it would be a bit hollow if he beats him due to playing significantly more innings. 2021 would have at least been iconic in a sense because England's batting outside him was so bad that year against unrelenting strong opposition and in some spicy bowling conditions.
