Lol@ babar getting out on road kohli can forgiven that he lost his form after 33 but babar is 30 and supossed to be in peak of his career. at 30 vk had 600 run series vs broad and jimmy in england

I think Pak cricket fans are fed up about Babar , they know he is in bad form but they also know that there is very little chance that he will be dropped if Masood can be captain with an average in the low 30's..

Right now Pakistan is in a very bad space because of the selection precedent set, underperforming players are still viewed as undroppable.

Babar was the best test batsmen in the world for ~3 years in that 2019-2022 period. Made runs in AUS, ENG, SL away and dominated at home. He's been in horrid form for a while now, but you don't just drop a guy with that kind of ceiling. Test batsmen that good are gold dust.

ENG made some nice 50s but never made it big.

Was poor in SA in 2019. Also was poor in WI in 2021.

Missed NZ 2020.

So was never really tested away outside Asia.

He has 1 century outside Asia.

He dominated at home on some very flat tracks where all half decent batsmen dominated from all teams. He was poor in the SA home series in 2021 when the pitches were not flat.

Babar was never as good as Kohli. After 10-15 years of mediocrity (especially in LOIs where Inzy/MoYo were there last good batsmen) they had a decent batsman. Pak media and fans went all out in proclaiming him the new Kohli.

Statpadding against depleted sides, especially during the IPL created his aura.

Babar never had atg series like smith vs ind 2017 and eng 2019 root vs ind 2021 kohli vs aus 2014 and eng 2018 Willamson vs aus 2015 where he dominated a very good attack

So let me get this straight.

3200 runs @58 overall in that period

1300 @47.5 away. Averaged 53 in AUS, 65.75 in england, over 4 tests and 300 runs. 8 away series and the only time he averaged under 35 was zimbabwe.

He was tested outside of Asia. He made runs and succeeded.

Attatched screenshot is runs and average of every batsmen who played for PAK in that period. From here (
). Crazy how when "all half decent batsmen dominated from all teams" noene else bothered to make half as many runs as he did at a decent average.

Favourable scheduling where he played either at home in flat conditions or weaker teams away.

4 matches you are quoting is a very small sample size. And England his highest was a 60-something odd. And in those 4 matches others scored way more runs than him.

Prior to that was poor in SA. And then was poor again once they started touring abroad again.

And I'm not talking about just Pak batsman but batsmen from all sides.

Eng 2022 Harry Brook was better. Aus 2022 Khawaja was better. Might be some other guys. Aus 2019 Warner was better as well. Eng 2020 Crawley was better.

He has never had a series against a good test team where he was the best batsman on display.

His runs are either against
1) weak teams
2) strong teams on flat wickets where other batsmen outscored him

He has nothing like Smith in Ind 2017, Eng 2019
Kohli in SA 2018, Eng 2018
Williamson in Aus 2015
Root at home vs Ind 2021
Even Pujara in Aus 2018

Basically dominate a series against a very good bowling attack.

I was saying same thing. babar is biggest stat padder

We’ll obviously have to bat well even on this flat surface, but if we can restrict them to around 400, which looks possible now, I think even this untried bowling attack can help us engineer a result

Only saw a bit of the morning session, but in the end wasn’t too despondent with the EOD score given what it could have been.

Let’s see how they go tomorrow but the short spell I saw from Carse this morning was decent. Attack is what it is though, think we all know that’s the key difference with us last time. Today would have been perfect for having Stokes available to bowl though, the partnership breaker and all
