Looking forward to that series , I think for the first time we go to South Africa having a better batting line up pedigree wise than the South Africans.
Agree. Apart from Bedingham it looks a weak batting lineup on paper.

I'd say so. Though you are in a pickle in a way that 3 of your best bats comfortably count as old. How long they can keep going for is anyones guess.
It will be fascinating to see how Kamindu goes in SA.

I think experienced is the right word , aslong as they are performing age shouldn't be an issue ..

And actually we have some good young batsmen coming through in domestic cricket , you will be hearing about Pasindu Sooriyabandara and Pavan Rathnayake pretty soon..

Phillips!!!

I haven't been surprised by his golden arm, but his control and thought he puts into his bowling is stunning
Santner has also bowled really well today and typifies why he's such a good white ball bowler. For him to get wickets though it always feels like
the batsman needs to make a bad mistake. Might not be the worst day if Will could snaffle a couple in the last 10 overs.

Agreed, bowled much better than he did last week. Still needs to take a few wickets as 2nd specialist spinner, or contribute some proper runs down the order.

Why not just ask Ravindra to do the Santner role and play an extra batter or bowler?

Kamindu Mendis has the Joe Root tendency of being a deceptively fast scorer , you look at the scoreboard and he has 30 without much apparent effort at all

We’ve been a joke of a fielding side for years now but this is definitely the worst day of test cricket I’ve seen from a NZ team. Dropped catches, missed stumpings, no balls costing wickets.

Can we just fire this muppet of a coach. He has well and truly run this team into the ground

Day 1 of the second test of a 5 test tour and the wheels are already coming off in a big way. This is shaping up to be a very chastening experience for NZ's leadership group.
