*Official* Australia limited overs tour of Scotland and England 2024

State Captain
Brook just doesn't give me captaincy vibes sorry. Maybe they're trying to groom him like Markram, where's he's thrown in as an interim with a few to a permanent gig in a few years.

Don't know though
Brook averages less than 30 in ODIs and List A cricket generally. He's lucky to be in the side.

Australia A had a batting line up that was arguably better than Australia's batting line up then with batsmen like Hayden, Langer. Ponting and Martyn.
No they didn't. On paper they look better now because they had better careers but at that time they were very young and nowhere near the players they ended up being.
And Australia cheated by picking Australia A best bowler Paul Reiffel just so they could make him 12th man in the finals and not have to face him
This is true though

No that was the only time they tried that and like I said it backfired when Aussie crowds were barracking for the Australia A team instead of Australia.

It didn’t back fire though because the two touring sides were horrendously bad so it kept some interest in the series.

And it humiliated England when they couldn’t make the final of a tourney involving the Aus second XI. Job done

Great result to see. Must admit I wasn't feeling too confident when I went to bed towards the arse end of the Australian innings, but great to see the team were able to come through in the end

It's only 1 knock but wonder if Carey is dropped when Inglis comes back now. Could potentially be room for both in the XI.

Ditch Short. We have enough bowlers who can deliver middle over dross. Inglis has a higher potential ceiling as an opener anyway.

Nah Short is a gun. He'll carry our white ball batting for the next decade.

as an aside Inglis shouldn't be anywhere near opening given he's one of our only batsmen that can do the middle order/late overs job well. Everyone else not named Maxwell needs to bat up the order

Sure lets keep Short at the top of the order. At the same time I'll order some unsalted fries, a mount franklin water and a double serving of erectile dysfunction with rotten, putrid semen to go with it.

I honestly think Short is gonna be around for some time at least as a 20/20 specialist. He may not be as devastating as others but every team needs
a guy with some stability and he definitely offers that as he never seems to throw his wicket away.
Whether he can transfer that into ODI's is still unknown but certainly wouldn't be surprised if he does.

Watching the extended highlights of last night’s game and I’m trying to work out what slight technical change Head has made, but he’s accessing the leg side in front of square a lot more freely than he was a season or so ago

I've been thinking exactly the same. Used to be so awkward whenever he tried to play it to leg but now it's a lot more natural. Might have just opened up a bit more

He seems to be taking less of a back and across movement these days, I wonder if that's actually a reaction to getting bowled falling across the crease a lot.

You can measure stadium capacity by fecal discharge per active gameplay minute

A Chennai scientist pioneered this stat, mind you.
