English Domestic Season 2024

Can anyone verify this:

What cricket is going on in India at the moment? Doesn't look like he's involved in the Duleep Trophy.

But it would make a degree of sense in that Venkatesh Iyer was not supposed to play for Lancashire after the two championship games in August. Maybe the management saw this as the only way that they could field two overseas players believing wrongly that Iyer would perform to a level which he had failed to do to date for Lancashire. Instead the much described "all rounder" didn't even bowl when Bedingham and Acakermann were breaking records and had to bat at 7 in the second innings as he spent so much time off the field.

Who does Iyer play for in India outside of the IPL?

Anyone who's enjoyed the Lancs TV coverage and wishes it to remain free to air might wish to compete this:

Surely moving to Pay to View would be a move away from their/ECB EDI policy. Why make it exclusive rather than inclusive?

Currently it's an excellent platform to advertise the club on. A lot of the content is simple self-promotion. That content would be wasted on anyone that paid-to-view. They would be advertising to the committed and converted.

what? "Luke Wood set to participate in the Zim Afro T10 which starts this week." From the Lancs website. What kind of deal is he on with the club?

@wpdavid Durham rock up to Surrey without any of our senior pace bowlers. A very helpful time to play us.

Potts/Carse with England, Raine/Coughlin not fit

Bas now the leader of the attack. Holder had a very rocky start to his Durham campaign against Lancs.

Somerset fans will be disappointed!

Emilio Gay making his debut after he moves to Durham early from Northants.

Our captain Borthwick injured for rest of season with an elbow injury. But he's only averaged 19 with the bat, so we're a stronger batting lineup now.

Looks a strong Surrey line up (put Durham in) even without Pope who has decided to play golf at Wentworth rather than play for his County.

I presume Bashir would've been available to Somerset (not picked), a sign of things to come?

Sussex just need a draw at Glos (who hopefully have been drinking heavily for the last 3 days) to secure promotion.

I'm surprised we've been put in with the weather in London for the duration of the game.

Surely be harder to bat last if the sun breaks the pitch up. But a very seamer heavy side for Surrey suggests they reckon it's a bowler friendly wicket.

Well, Surrey have picked six pace bowlers and have only Dan Lawrence to bowl spin...
Were looking relatively comfortable so far. With how inexperienced our bowling attack is I'm baffled that they put us into bat.

Our seamers don't even have 45 FC games between them! Holder is the most experienced at 28 games and he's barely played in England.

Terrible leave by Alex Lees as S.Curran takes the top of off and breaks the bail.

Thankfully the umpire has his arm stretched out for front foot no ball.

The Surrey bowling lineup looks a lot weaker on paper with only Worrell and Clark being regular members of their CC team. The Curran brothers have barely played CC cricket for yonks.

Our seam attack has less than 20 FC games in England mind. So a somewhat different level of experience.

Parky the leader of the attack!

56/6 after choosing to bat. I think they may well still be drunk

Yeah that does look rather threadbare. Essex have Warks 73-7 although I think it would take some mathematical magic for Essex to overhaul the top 2.
