This was when home was UAE and Yasir Shah was a cheat code? Still don't recall Pakistan doing much of note overseas. Probably a case of most teams being under par at the same time. Were very good at home, had some good results away like drawing in England, reached #1 in the rankings for a brief while.
Yeah, Yasir was sh!t hot at the time. Batting was the strong suit though. Younis, Misbah and Hafeez were still in the team. Azhar Ali, Shafique and Safraz were very good in support. Loads of very fast and dangerous left arm seamers around the team too in Junaid, Wahab and Amir. This was when home was UAE and Yasir Shah was a cheat code? Still don't recall Pakistan doing much of note overseas. Probably a case of most teams being under par at the same time.
India
Australia
New Zealand
England
South Africa
Sri Lanka
Pakistan
Bangladesh
West Indies
Didn't we had this discussion before and showed how NZ batting is tiers above SA and also better than England??
Not even close to being a top 3 side. In fact NZ is closer to Pakistan/Bangladesh/West Indies/Sri Lanka than they are to Aus/Eng/Ind/SA.
We are currently seeing that having known popular names in your team doesn't automatically make them much better batters. The likes of Mitchell, Latham, Conway, Ravindra, Philips get seriously overrated since they play in the IPL as they are well known names there. But in terms of their quality in test cricket around the world, they are pretty mediocre it has to be said. They are not a lot better than SA in batting.Didn't we had this discussion before and showed how NZ batting is tiers above SA and also better than England??

Pretty much what ataraxia said, a really bad take.We are currently seeing that having known popular names in your team doesn't automatically make them much better batters. NZ batting is definitely better than SA but I would go for England's batting simply because of the Root factorDidn't we had this discussion before and showed how NZ batting is tiers above SA and also better than England??
Williamson=RootNZ batting is definitely better than SA but I would go for England's batting simply because of the Root factor
No way.... Williamson has done **** all in IND, SA, ENG and SL in his careerWilliamson=Root
They are better but not a lot better. Not few tiers above SA.Haha wtf
He played 1 game in SA since turning 23; and most of the matches in India before that as well. Is much better at home as well. Don't think there's much between those two.No way.... Williamson has done **** all in IND, SA, ENG and SL in his career
Had a favourable schedule too. This was when home was UAE and Yasir Shah was a cheat code? Still don't recall Pakistan doing much of note overseas. Probably a case of most teams being under par at the same time.
Nah this is a bad take. Root is a tier above Williamson. Kane is the biggest fraud of this generation's batsmen. Massive home track bullyWilliamson=Root
Disagree actually. Played 1 match in SA after 23, as well a 3 match India tour. Hardly worse in England than Root in Australia. Root nowhere near as productive at home. Overall, Root is better but a tier is wild and shows how easily opinions here gets swayed. For reference, not more than 6 months ago Williamson beat out Root in the Test batsmen Poll.Nah this is a bad take. Root is a tier above Williamson. Kane is the biggest fraud of this generation's batsmen. Massive home track bully
