lolI would probably put Farah in the 'questions to answer' category too.
The answer is always Murray though. Successive Olympic Golds, 3 Grand Slams (11 Finals), a Davis Cup, a Year End Championship, World Number 1, 3 SPOTY's, and frankly, just a decent bloke too. If he hadn't been born within a week of Djokovic he'd have won a ****load more.
Of course it is. The America's Cup is on now in Barcelona which is highly controversial as it isn't in NZ. Our boat was damaged yesterday as it was carried by crane.Sailing’s not a real sport tbh, let’s be honest.
Farah's achievements are somewhat tainted imoI’ll be honest, I tend to almost exclude individual sports from my thinking when I make these statements but
Hamilton - I’d beat him in my old corsa. Not a sport
Farah - belongs in the argument but Root has been world class for a decade now, has achieved at the highest level in multiple formats like Farah, and has never advertised quorn
Fury - Boxing isn’t a sport, you might as well mention Wade Barrett and Drew McIntyre
Hoy - Come back when his best move on the bike is as good as Root’s ramp
Wiggins - questions to answer
O’Sullivan - pub game, not a sport
Wilkinson - doesn’t even need a joke answer
I'd give Billy Slater a mentionWho would be the best Aussie male? Ian Thorpe? Cadel Evans? Lleyton Hewitt (who was a lot worse than Murray)? James Spithill? Jonathan Thurston? Steve Smith?
Gotta say the British options are far better
Richie McCaw, Dan Carter, Israel Adasanya, Scott Dixon, Peter Burling, Bond & Murray, Hamish Kerr etc. are better than the Aussies too.
Edit: Also since McIlroy is Northern Irish the UK can claim him too, and he's better than the Aussies.
Yeah, quite a good player (but I can think of many union fullbacks who were better).Unfortunately he's probably most remembered for his terrible error in the 2008 World Cup final which gifted a try to Benji Marshall and after that the Kiwis were too good.I'd give Billy Slater a mention
Who?If it’s 90s/00s you’re talking about, then John Eales trumps any Pommy sportsman
Perhaps the best ever rugby player not to come from NZ or SA.Who?
You'd make Welsh people very unhappy with that comment, so I applaud it.Perhaps the best ever rugby player not to come from NZ or SA.
I rate Slater very high. Not as iconic as JT because he was the main man in a premiership-winning campaign for a less glamorous club.Yeah, quite a good player (but I can think of many union fullbacks who were better).Unfortunately he's probably most remembered for his terrible error in the 2008 World Cup final which gifted a try to Benji Marshall and after that the Kiwis were too good.
Fair enough, but I'm used to watching the likes of Christian Cullen, Mils Muliana, and Ben Smith so perhaps don't rate Slater so highly. I'd put Slater on about Chris Latham level.I rate Slater very high. Not as iconic as JT because he was the main man in a premiership-winning campaign for a less glamorous club.
I don't know any of them. I'm from rugby league territory so union is more of a casual sport for me. Yeah, Inglis is my favourite ever player from the NRL. Generational athletic ability.Fair enough, but I'm used to watching the likes of Christian Cullen, Mils Muliana, and Ben Smith so perhaps don't rate Slater so highly. I'd put Slater on about Chris Latham level.
I always thought Greg Inglis was a very good player though.
The battler’s past timeOf course it is. The America's Cup is on now in Barcelona which is highly controversial as it isn't in NZ. Our boat was damaged yesterday as it was carried by crane.
Yeah mate. NZ TV historyDo you remember this @Fuller Pilch
Paul Holmes interviews Dennis Conner
With the arrival of TV3 in 1989, TVNZ faced competition in the presentation of news. Their response was to introduce a half-hour current-affairs show fronted by Paul Holmes. Holmes got off to a spectacular start with an interview with America's Cup skipper Dennis Conner. Conner ...teara.govt.nz
