I mean so does Root. have you seen the openers he has played with post Cook?
Yeah that's true but your openers have generally been better than ours even post Cook., not many countries have good test openers these days though.

Even Australia are opening with Smith these days as they don't have a good enough test opener to replace Warner.

Our openers are usually good for a few runs, but not so good at sticking in long enough to get the shine off the ball!

I was prepared for 280 all out when leaving work so this state of affairs is quite encouraging. Atkinson going above and beyond here and saving the top order a lot of grief if we can bat out the day

Crawley and Duckett one of the great opening pairs IMO
In this day and age they look like Greenidge and Haynes, Wright and Edgar or Gooch and Atherton.

Good old fashioned test openers are rare to find these days, let alone good old fashioned test opening pairs.
